The Owl Panel has been one I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time.  It’s such an incredible petroglyph panel and it really isn’t that far of a hike and it should be a hike you add to your to-do lists!  If you have binoculars you can see the owl panel along with the big person petroglyph from the road.  I recommend trying to find the petroglyphs beforehand, so you can plan your route accordingly.  I have heard of hikers quitting after not being able to find the Owl Panel.

I hiked this from the where the off-road route Cliff Hanger meets up with Kane Springs Road.  There were a lot of Jeeps and trucks making their way along the route and it was fun to watch them go over the big obstacles.   I hiked down to the creek then crossed over.  I found a trail marker and I followed it right up the hill.  From here, there are some switchbacks which help with the steep area.

You will eventually come to a bench and see that the trail goes left or right.  Take the right and follow the bench around the corner.  Watch the walls on your left and you will see the Owl Panel.  Seeing an owl in petroglyphs is rare.   I have only seen two others and they are located in The San Rafael Swell.  There are other petroglyphs that are interesting including a big anthropomorph (human-like figure), a thunderbird or just a regular bird, big horn sheep, and also a hunter.
