Black Diamond Vector Climbing Helmet

by February 4, 2015

Introduction

I have had this helmet for about a year now and have used it many times. It has a few features I really like. I love the ratcheting straps that are much faster to fit to your  head. The helmet has four hooks for easily attaching a headlamp on the helmet. I have used this helmet now in many caves/mines, and canyoneering and it has taken a beating and held up to all of it and is still in good shape. My favorite part is how breathable it is. I am by nature a very hot person and this helmet never overheats my head like others I have used in the past. Weight on the large size like mine is 8.5 ounces so it doesn’t hinder your head on a long trip even when coupled with a head lamp. There is a black, blue, orange, and white option.

$99.95 on the Black Diamond website

Positives

Breathable, Light, Headlamp Clips, Ratcheting adjustments

Negatives

The only negative here is it doesn't have a textured surface like most helmets which means you can see every little scratch. Looks don't mean much to me personally but if that is a big deal to you then you may want to consider other options.

The Bottom Line

This is my favorite helmet I have used. Its the lightest and least hindering. I have used the light clips many times and the whole package has held up well.
