(3D Model) Montezuma's Mine Main Entrance Utah

(3D Model) Montezuma’s Mine Main Entrance – Utah

The LiDAR scan for the main entrance to Montezuma’s Mine was difficult to scan.  It took me several tries and overall I’m not terribly happy with it, but it gives you an idea on what the entrance and first 15 ft. look like.

It was difficult in a way because we had already been exploring the mine and I was using my flashlights power on ‘turbo’.  My flashlight only had minimal power left, which made the tunnels difficult to scan.

This mine is historically significant as it’s the supposed location for Aztec gold that was moved here when Spanish Conquistadors were invading the Aztec homeland in modern day Mexico.

I am looking over the model. All I can say is WOW!!!!! This new tech is amazing and I am so happy you can now preserve all these beautiful things that you find. I want to stare at the rock art for long periods, but to pan around it, study the texture of the paint or carving is an incredible bonus. I feel that some rock art has a very fine art technique and I love to see the differences in styles. I look forward to seeing a lot more. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to do… Read more »

I wonder if there is a ‘tour’ button to set a camera on a track through the mine tunnels. It would be like you were walking through it. If it would allow you to pause the tour to look around, it would help the navigation inside the tunnels. I want to slide forward neatly along a tunnel space cos my mouse skills are iffy when the movement speed is set too high. Wow I love this tech so much.

I enjoy watching all the videos from around the state really good job.

Curious ? what type of equipment do you use to capture this detail from inside mines and caves.

Thanks,
Eric R
