I found some mines on some old USGS topography maps a while ago and decided to explore these on a free Saturday.
The hike to the mines was pretty easy as I followed the road the miners created decades ago. The copper mines have many artifacts still to be seen. I was surprised though that the mine entrances were completely backfilled. I think I saw six mines on the maps and when I visited I didn’t see an opening to any of them. Still, I had a great time! This area has radioactive material so I didn’t want to play around in the tailings.
