A unique feature we have at The Trek Planner is “I’ve Done This – Verified.” This is a fun and novel (and optional) feature to prove that you have been on an adventure.  Trek Challenges are challenges that you can prove that you have actually done, typically by taking a selfie or photo of you or your group doing a Trek Challenge. This feature lets you go out on Trek Challenges and upload your selfie/photo to prove that you’ve actually done it! Just go to any post, find the picture with the “Trek Challenge” photo in it, and do what the Trek Challenge instructions say. After you completed the Trek Challenge, come back to the post and click on the “I’ve Done This – Verified” button on the left side bar and upload your photo.  If verified, we will send you an email about the approval and you will see the verified Trek now listed on your account page. If your photo is not verified, you will also get an email and you will then need to upload another better matching photo. Some of the challenges are pretty hard and if your photos are not clear we will not verify your photo. What’s the point? As you get more Treks verified you will get a higher rank on The Trek Planner.   Your rank appears on your user profile page.  This a fun and different aspect of exploring the outdoors that we pioneered at The Trek Planner.
Trek Challenge Example and Example Submission Let’s walk through an example of a Trek Challenge. Let’s say you are visiting our post about Jenny Lake.  You read the article and see this picture below with the big “Trek Challenge” in red.  You will find a description of a task below this picture.  The Task reads: Take a selfie/photo of yourself in front of Jenny Lake.  It does not matter on what side of lake you are on as long as the picture has you and Jenny Lake in it. You then go out to Jenny Lake, hopefully have an enjoyable experience, and take your picture according to the task description.  Then when you are able, log in to your account, visit our Jenny Lake post again, and find the “YES! Verify my picture” button on the left hand side bar. (see example below). Click on the button and a new window opens up. Select your Trek Challenge photo (Let’s say the below picture is the one you decide to upload).  Wait for it to upload, then click submit.  You will see a “Thank you!” when your picture was successfully uploaded to our database. Your photo will then be submitted to a Trek Planner admin to review.  Note: it may take several days for your photo to be verified. If your photo is verified? If your photo is verified that you did indeed successfully complete the Trek Challenge for that particular post, then you will receive an email with the following picture.  Then a badge of this Trek will be displayed on your user page under the “I’ve Done This – Verified.”  The more verified treks you have the higher your rank. You may need to check your spam folder for the emails If your photo is not verified? If your photo was not a good match with that particular Trek Challenge, or the photo was way too blurry, or there are any other issues, then you will receive an email with the following picture.  Feel free to try and upload a better picture that better matches with the Trek Challenge.  We may send you a note on why it wasn’t verified. You may need to check your spam folder for the emails Then go out and complete as many Trek Challenges as you can!
