I found these randomly when I was driving on a road in St. George.  Since these are easily accessible, I will not be sharing GPS coordinates except with Insider Members.

The petroglyphs appear to be very old.  They are carved on volcanic rock and you will see many classic symbols such as spirals, circles, anthropomorphs, and more.  From afar, they are easily mistaken as just scratches on the rock.  But to the more keen eye, you will see that there are dozens of petroglyphs that can be seen from the road.  I really enjoyed getting out of the car and hiking around a bit.

There isn’t really a trail, so you’ll need to jump and skip around the boulders and rocks.  I found what I thought were several circles of rocks that could have been created by ancient inhabitants.   The Paiute Indians lived in the St. George and surrounding areas and it’s likely that they created these here.

What do you think a rectangle that is partially shaded means?

If you love rock art then you will love these too! The petroglyphs here are some of my favorite in the St. George area.
