I found this arch by accident when I was using a drone to search out areas for possible ruins and petroglyphs. You can’t really see the arch from the road, which is why I’m calling this arch, Shy Arch. There are also two large cedar trees blocking the view of the arch.
Shy Arch is about 15 ft. in length and is located at the base of 200+ ft. cliffs. I tried hiking up to it and found the hike extremely steep and not worth it. It’s not worth it for a more important reason though. There is a road that goes right below the arch and if you happen to nudge a rock loose it could potentially seriously injure or kill someone. There isn’t even a trail and the entire pathway is just scree and rubble.
This is why it took me forever to climb up to it. I waited for traffic to pass by before I climbed up. Then, I would stop until more vehicles would pass and then I continued on. I realized how dangerous this hike was when I accidentally kicked a small rock down which hit another rock which almost landed on my car! It is for this reason that I highly suggest you DO NOT climb up to Shy Arch.
If you have a drone then check it out!
I am including one more picture of the arch and the road for Insider Members. You can see how close it is to the road, yet you’d never notice it!
