Be a responsible explorer

While exploring in Southeastern Utah, I just randomly pulled over to what appeared to be a short canyon entrance and began to hike.  I grabbed my bag and camera and set out to see what was up this canyon.  Nearby here, there are plenty of ruins and rock art sights, but I wasn’t sure if there would be anything here.

I climbed up the canyon walls through what seemed to be an old cattle trail or something, and got to a level area where I could see several alcoves.  One of the alcoves appeared to be a square looking structure.  I made hiked straight to it and discovered it was a granary! Or, what appeared to be remnants of a granary.  The structure is too small to be a dwelling.

It’s located right on a very steep ledge that I didn’t even want to try to climb up.  I don’t recommend others climb up either.  The granary has seen better days.  Please be respectful and admire this ancient relic with your eyes and camera and not climbing all over it.

There are some petroglyphs and vandalism too.

Personal Thoughts

Personal Thoughts

This was a neat unexpected adventure! It doesn't pack the punch of an action packed adventure, but it's still neat to see.
