This mine is located off from the Million Dollar Highway in between Silverton and Ouray.

I drove past this mine as I was driving to the Yankee Girl Mine and I  stopped on the way back to get some photos.

I don’t know anything about this mine other than that there was a mine here according to the USGS topo map.  There is a good sized tailings pile, but it’s hard to tell if all of this was from the Guston-Robinson Mine or others in the area.  Colorado State has spent a large sum of money doing reclamation projects in the area including creating cement creek bottoms to prevent further erosion.  At the time of my visit the creek water was pretty high but it was still easy to cross.  The tailings pile is steep too so if you have children with you use caution.

There aren’t any entrances or shafts to this mine still open.  There is plenty of other great things to see at this mine including the ore hopper and small cabin.  When I got close to the cabin, I noticed a small “No Trespassing” sign on posted on the outside.  Please respect and preserve this area and do not enter the structures.   Just take pictures from the outside and leave everything as you find it so others can enjoy it too!

The cabin had some really neat stairs you can see from the outside.  It was probably used as a small bunk house for the miners or an office.

The views from this mine are incredible!

This was a fun mine to check out. It would make for a great side trip if you are on the Million Dollar Highway or going to check out the Yankee Girl Mine.
