As some of you are aware, I recently spent a few days in Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. The first time I went there I missed so much. I feel like I’ve learned (and am still learning) so much over the last few years.
On my latest visit, I’ve noticed just how many T-shaped doors there are, including at the Great Kiva of Casa Rinconada.

I noticed just how many windows or doors are shaped at odd angles! I knew some of these are solar aligned but to see three of them at these angles was so interesting!

Camping at the campground was an experience too! First, it was sooo quiet! I could hear this guy snoring about 200 ft. away…
Second, I was one of the few who spoke English. The campground was full of Europeans.
Third, It was busy! It was so busy that the only site left was the group site and they gave it to me!

I am making a 2-3 part series of this incredible place! But these are just a few highlights from my trip.
Have you been there? Let me know!
You’re blessed to get a campsite there if you didn’t have a reservation in advance. I wouldn’t dare take that chance.
I would love to learn more about T-shaped doors. I heard at least one researcher who thinks it was a sign of a family dynasty, sort of like saying, “The Bradley family lives here.” So no matter where you go, if you see one you’d know you were welcome (or not) there.
Right?? last time I came here I just walked in and they had tons of sites left. This time, just one site remained. Wouldn’t risk it again though!
I think I heard about that about the t-shaped doors too.
