Be a responsible explorer

Note: This short hike doesn’t have a name.  I simply named it Acorn Canyon due to the many scrub oak trees I saw with acorns on them.

This is a very shot hike to a fun little slot canyon type experience!  It’s a pretty straightforward adventure even though it is not marked with cairns or signs.

This is a little section along Pine Creek that offers a unique slot canyon type experience.  The canyon never really narrows to claustrophobic type levels, but it’s still a fun experience and one worth doing if you are in the upper Zion area looking for something new to do.

The parking area has ample space for a few cars.   Most people stop and take a few pictures of the beautiful area then leave.  This trail gives you quick access to Pine Creek (which is typically dry).  The hike from the parking to the creek below is decently marked with a few cairns (the only cairns you’ll see on this Trek).  It’s a steady and easy descent, but it’s on sand.

Once you are down in the creek bed, you will be hiking up it.  I just followed the center of the creek the whole time and soon I was enveloped in steep sandstone cliffs!  The slot canyon part of this Trek doesn’t take long to get to.

The slot section is really neat and picturesque!  Some of my pictures make this canyon look like you are in The Narrows or Mystery Canyon!  There are two mini slot canyon areas.  The first and second sections are located very close to each other so make sure you do both!

Once you get out of the slot section, keep following the creek for as long as you’d like.  I casually hiked around exploring wherever I wanted since it was my first time through here.

You will be hiking on river rock or sandstone the entire time.  It’s not difficult hiking by any means.

Once I got a little bit higher to where I could see the road, I came back down the same way.

Head back the same way to return
