The trail is clear until the last 1/4 mile. You will be hiking right next to the train tracks, so make sure you are always watching and listening for trains! You will need to bushwhack to the actual mine

I found this mine on accident while exploring an area just south of the Denali National Park entrance.
The mine area has a dug out shelter that has several large containers and a boiler still present. If you hike down towards the hollow a little ways you will find another dug out and the old door that is slowly decaying. There are tons of old artifacts including food cans, buckets, barrels, rail tracks, wooden structures and more.
I came to this area two times and still haven’t found an entrance but I’m pretty sure they may have been caved.
A little ways from these remnants you will find some coal ore carts, an ore hopper, a pulley-system, and iron rails. The ore was brought down steep rail tracks until it was at the railroad.
Personal Thoughts
Seeing this unexpected panel was a highlight of my trip. This panel is easy to miss, but just shows how much stuff really is out there. We just need to open our eyes to see it! If you have binoculars or a telephoto lens then this panel is worth the visit! If not, the petroglyphs are very difficult to see.
