Be a responsible explorer

This is a neat little side trip on your greater Buckhorn Draw adventure.  It’s a short climb from the road to the glyphs and won’t take you more than 5 minutes to see them.

Not much is known about these except some people believe these were made by cowboys or early explorers due to the art style.  Other people believe these are created by Native Americans.  I do see some similar styles between both what I’ve seen cowboys create and also early Native American groups – who knows! One of the petroglyphs appears to be what I think is a bull.  Cattle weren’t introduced to this area, until early settlers brought them along, so that is why people think these are so-called cowboy glyphs. We don’t know the exact age of when these were created.

Personal Thoughts

Personal Thoughts

Buckhorn Draw is full of interesting things, some more interesting than others. The cowboy glyphs aren't a must-see, but they are located right off the road and can easily be seen from the road.
