I have tried to get permission from the mine owner so I could take photos of the historic buildings but have not gotten a response. The mine and road are located on private property.

Located just outside of Fairbanks Alaska, The Cleary Hill Mine was a large gold producer back in the day with thousands of feet of tunnels worked.  It was a lode (tunnel) mine but present day operations suggest it is now an open pit or strip mine. 

According to some reports, the mine produced more than 100,000 ounces of gold.

You can see the mine and buildings clearly from a distance on the Steese Highway when it’s spring and the trees haven’t gotten their leaves yet.  There are many buildings including what I think may be the old stamp mill.
