Driving Directions

The pond is located just right outside the mouth of Farmington Canyon.

The Trail:

Farmington Pond is created from the Farmington Creek which comes down from Farmington Canyon.  In the summer months this pond can be very busy with fishermen (and fisherwomen), swimmers and even people having picnics.  As evident of this, I went up on a warmer than average winter day and I found trash littered around the entire pond’s perimeter.  I found golf balls all along one side of the pond, fishing line and lots of old cardboard pizza boxes scattered around in the bushes.  It is always amazing to me how many clueless and stupid people there are out there.

If you do plan on doing some fishing, there is a two fish possession limit.

The parking lot is located right next to the pond so you won’t have to hike much at all and if you do have a lot of gear then it won’t be hard to carry.

Here is a look at the restrooms and the fish cleaning area.

If you have extra time, you could take the Farmington Creek Trail all the way up Farmington Canyon.  Simply follow the trail which begins right behind the restrooms at the parking lot and head towards the mouth of the canyon.Farmington Pond

The Bottom Line

Difficulty is basically the length, duration and stress of the Trek.  If the Trek is really long then it will receive a higher rating. If the Trek is short then it won't receive that high of a rating. However, difficulty rating also includes how tired we were at the end of the Trek.

Technicality is how strenuous the Trek is. If there is lots of bouldering or if there is bushwhacking involved then the rating will be higher. Technicality also includes if there are steep inclines or the need for ropes and other equipment.

Enjoyment is strictly how much fun we had doing the Trek. Regardless of how tired and exhausted we were, if we had a ton of fun doing the Trek then it will receive a higher rating.
